On behalf of Professor Nkeng George Elambo, who shares with me the Chair of the Conference, and other colleagues of the Organising Committee, I am happy to invite you to attend the 2nd International Conference on Sustainable Energy and Climate in African Municipalities (SECAM). The conference will be held during the week of 20 to 22 October, 2020, in Yaoundé at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Travaux Publics (ENSTP) , Cameroon (http://www.enstp.cm). 

 

There is a major concern about some of the big issues represented by the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the New Urban Agenda and the Paris Agreement. In fact, it’s been two years since the 17 SDGs were agreed by world leaders, but African governments and Municipalities still do not have a coherent plan for how to achieve them by 2030. The SECAM 2020 conference programme should reflect and tackle the concerns of the African municipalities including the built environment industry and create an action plan for change.

 

The theme for next year’s SECAM 2020 conference is “Accelerating African Municipality’s Potential towards Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”  It will entail local authorities, business leaders and experts in sustainability issues, delivering presentations focusing on the following SDGs: (7) Affordable and Clean Energy, (11) Sustainable Cities and Communities, (12) Responsible Production and Consumption, (13) Climate Action. 

 

SECAM 2020 is an Inter-, trans- and multi- disciplinary international conference on the sustainable energy research and development, climate mitigation and adaptation strategies and technologies that provides a forum for the exchange of latest technical information, the dissemination of high-quality research results, the presentation of new developments in the area, and the debate and shaping of future directions and priorities for sustainable development and energy security. Contributions are invited on the topics within the conference scope of sustainable energy technologies. All contributions should be of high quality, original and not published elsewhere or submitted for publication during the review period. All accepted papers will be presented orally or by poster, and included in the conference proceedings. Selected papers will be published in our partner journals.
